SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Richmond School Committee was held on Wednesday evening; pre-seat : Messrs Pauli (chairman), Hillson, Potter, Shaw, O’Oonnor, Richards, Sterling and Cardwell. An apology for absence was received from Mr Sorensen. The beadmaster’ deported that the number on the roll was 585, but pivinsr to tbs bad weather the attendance had fallen off considerably during tho past week. On Thursday last the attendance was less than half the roll number, the first time for twenty years. It was resolved to ask the City Council to lay two asphalt crossings in front of the school -gates, owing to the state of -the Stanmore Road, and 1 it %vas ded-d-qji ailso to insure the piano and school librnay. The Works Committee reported that the grounds and. school premises- were in g’C-od order, and that it bad instructed tho caretaker to plant trees around the school grounds. Tne Education Board wrote, stating that it bad forwarded medals fox presentation to each scholar to commemorate the visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York. Accounts amounting to £8 10s 5-d were passed for payment. At a meeting of the Bromley School Committee, Miss Gilmour was appointed mistress. It was reported that the number of scholars on the roll was 61 and the average attendance 47. At a meeting of the Southbrook School Committee, on Tuesday evening, the Chairman reported the receipt of medals for the children in commemoration- of the Royal visit, and’ it was decided' that the master -should distribute them. An offer from the Board of a presentation flag was accepted. Voting papers for -the election of three members of the Board of Education were received and distributed. •
