The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York -mil arrive at Cape Town on August 18J The chief features will be a drive round tfhe Peninsula. The majority of the towns in Gape Colony will send cars to take part in an allegorical procession. KimberIsy and Port Elizabeth will make separate presents. The other towns will amalgamate with Gape Town. A Royal visit to Port Elizabeth, ia improbable. RECOGNITION OF A PRESENT. THE DUKE IN ADELAIDE. SYDNEY, July 10. The Premier,- has received a letter from the Duke of Cornwall thanking him for a present of copies of the official papers and books dealing with Captain Cook's voyages. Stead, chairman of the Royal Reception' Finance Committee, has written to thftMayorof-Linwoodin reference to the ■decision of the Borough Council to forward only '£l6o to the Finance Committee on account of the guarantee given by the Counoil towards the expenses of the Royal reception. - The Council had decided to pay this sum on account, pending the receipt of a statement of the accounts. Mr Stead points out that the Council was informed that its_estimated share of the cost would be under £300,' and "that by careful management the expenses had been kept so well within the estimates that only, £230 was asked from the Council. It was impossible to send a statement of accounts until all the accounts had been paid, end this could not be done till the local bodies guaranteeing had sent in.their amounts. He therefore asked the Council to forward the £230 asked for, so that pressing accounts could be paid, and the statement asked for made
