FOOTBALL.

[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 28. The New Zealand Rugby Union’ has resolved to call upon the Auckland Union to carry out the programme laid down at the conference of 1900, by travelling to Dunedin. A modification has been approved to the effect that Wellington shall visit Auckland first, instead of returning with the Auckland team after its southern matches, as provided.

One of the most interesting matches of the season will take place at Lancaster Park to-day, when Linwood meet Merivale. Both teams have done a lot of training, and a good game should be witnessed. The other games are Kaiapoi v. Christchurch, and Sydenham v. Albion. As the grand-stand? erected in the North Park have not yet been removed, the President Cup games, Merivale B v. Kaiapoi, and Boys’ High School C v. Lyttelton, have been postponed. The Junior Flag match Christchurch v. Linwood, will be played on the Christchurch ground, North Park.
