LAND BOARD.
A meeting of the Canterbury Board was held on Thursday; present—Messrs S. Weefcman (Commissioner of Crown Lands), J. M’Lachlan, M.H.R., A C. Pringle, J. Sealy, and R. Meredith, M.H.R, It was decided to. grant a tenancy of an estimated area of 182 acres of the Hurunui River bed at Greta, formerly held by Mr W. H. Purbury, to Mr Claude Sawtell, on adjoining -owner, at a rental of £2 a year, subJ'ect to the usual conditions. Lots 1 to 4, leserve 1600, Homebush, nnseleoted, will be offered to public tender for lease for a term of seven years'at on upset' rental of Is 9d an acre a year. The Marlborough Land Board forwarded a resolution proposing an increase of timber royalty, and stating that a portion of the increased revenue so obtained should be used for afforestation. , It was decided to concur in the suggestion, and the Marlborough Board will be asked to propose the increased pates of royalty. Applicants who have been passed for th,© Ko-Mka Settlement will be admitted for the Ralncliff Settlement, if their available means are not less than £250.
