THE CHRISTCHURCH BY-ELECTION.

Mr W. H. Cooper has -been approached with a view of his becoming a candidate for the Christchurch seat, and is taking time to consider the matter. The meeting of the friends and sup?orters of Messrs G. J. Smith and T. E. 'aylor will be held in the Congregational Schoolroom, Manchester Street, this evening, at 7.45 p.m. , It will be noted that the place of meeting has been changed. Mr J. H. Newlyn has been asked by several electors te address a public meeting, but no arrangement to do so has yet 'been made.
