WELLINGTON ITEMS.
[Pee Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Feb. 19. In connection with, the rumoured defect in Iho foundation of one of tha Makohine viaduct piers the Minister of Public Works to-day communicated with the Mechanical Engineer in charge of the works andl received the following reply:—“ Statement cruelly false. Vendors of such false news ought to be severely punished. Everything perfectly plumb and level. No sign of any defect whatever.”
