ANGLICAN GENERAL SYNOD.
CLOSE OF THE SESSION. [Per Press Association.] NAPIER, Feb. IE At the General Synod to-day the Primate, who had been at the reception of the Imperial troops, and was wearing his Lucknow and Afghan medals, said that among the regiments represented were several to which he had been chaplain. There was no chaplain with the force, and on learning that, the Premier had offered him a free passage in the Britannic. He did not like the troops going Home without a chaplain, and with the consent of the Synod, he would accept the offer. Leave was granted with acclamation. The other business mainly consisted of confirmatory resolutions, votes of thanks to the officers of the Synod, and 1 for the hospitality received. The report- of the Board of Theological Studies was adopted. This ■ mainly dealt with the educational qualifications of. candidates for holy orders, but it -was also carried that the Beard should set up a committee of three to examine the Sunday school teachers on. the lines suggested by the Auckland Sunday School Board.
