SUPPOSED POISONING.
[From Our Correspondent.! DUNEDIN, Feb. 9. A % case of supposed poisoning, by atrophine, was received into the hospital tKis afternoon. Jane Tattersall, about fifty years of age, living in Leith Street, was left by her daughter in bed early in the morning. There "was nothing strange about the mother then, save that she would have no breakfast. Miss Tattersall returned about midday, and found her mother lying besida the -bed senseless. She had apparently swal;h>wed a lotion for the eyes, from an affection of which she had suffered about, nine months ago, and at rare intervals since. Medical assistance was summoned, and Mrs Tattersall was removed to the hospital, where she is only semi-conscious at present, though hopes of her recovery are 'entertained. No reason, for the act is assigned, excepting that Mrs Tattersall had • been worrying a good deal lately.
