COLONY AND COMMON-\ WEALTH.

DEAttTH OF NEWZEALAND IfMS

IN AUSTRALIA.

MR SEDDON'S INTENTIONS. [FapM Oua Correspondent.] WELLINGTON, Feb. 9

The Premier has at last discovered that the dearth of New Zealand news in the Australian Press is due neither to the supineness nor to the phlegmatic character of the average New Zealander, but io the high cable rates. He expects the other colonies to join in some inducement to tie company to lower the changes. His idea is that this may lead ultimately to a Federal cable, that will fall in with the larger idea, mooted by New Zealand, of federalising all the cables in the hands of the companies.
