A party of 150 Boers raided the De Beers Company’s farm near Kimberley. The residents of the district are-flocking into the Advices from Cape Town and an interview with Mr Hagedooran, a Boer officer at Marseilles, appearing in both fihe “ Daily Mail” and the “Daily Express,” concur in stating that the invaders have plenty, of ammunition and arms, which were omv ningly buried until the Boer® were ready to use them. It is also stated that the invasion was carefully organised, and had been long planned. RECRUITING IN CAPE TOWN. GREAT ACTIVITY PREVAILING. LONDON, Jan. 9. Eight hundred mounted men were enrolled in Cape Town in a few, days. General Brabant, the head of the Colonial Defence Corps, and other authorities} are very active. PLAN OP THE INVADERS. TO CUT COMMUNICATION NEAR THE COAST. (Received Jan. 11, 12.19 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 10. Twelve of the Imperial Light Horse were killed, and twenty-five wounded, the majority severely, in Babington’s fight at Naauwpoort. Eight men belonging to the Scots Greys Guards and Hussars also were wounded.

The Boers’ vanguard is twenty miles from Piquetberg. The invaders have been instructed to cub communication near the coast, and thus compel the British to hurry southwards, to deal with the intruders, Botha meanwhile taking the offensive. ATTITUDE OP THE CAPE DUTCH. REASSURING REPORTS. (Received Jan. 11, 1.10 a.ro.) LONDON, Jan. 10. Latest reports regard the attitude of the Cape Dutch as most reassuring. BRITISH PREPARATIONS. LONDON, Jan. 10. Lieutenant-Colonel Henniker’s force, including the Second Coldstreams, holds an extended line south of Sutherland. The invaders have moved ’westward from Fraserberg. A strong British column has garrisoned Carnarvon, and four British columns are operating from Middelbm’g. Horses have been commandeered ah Warrenton and) Worcester, where the ' circulation of the

newspaper “ Ons Land ” has been forbidden.
