GROG IN PROHIBITION DISTRICT.
A RAID AT BALCLUTHA. [Per Press /Association.] DUNEDIN, Jan. 9. The police made a big raid on sly grogsellers at Balclutha this morning. Eleven plain clothes constables entered the district on bicycles. Five places were entered, and large quantities of grog were found in each. The names of the owners of the premises are: Vial (Railway Hotel), Bain (Fanners’ Arms), M’Donnell (Criterion Hotel), Allen (Crown Hotel), and Marshall (lemonade factory). It is rumoured that simultaneous raids were made at Tapanui, Owaka, and Clinton.
