CYCLING.
LEAGUE OF WHEELMEN. A meeting of the North Canterbury Centre -of the League of New. Zealand Wheelmen was held in the Clarendon Hotel last evening ; present—Messrs, F. D. Kesteven (chairman), D. J. Fraser, J. Montague,. T. Clarkson, J. Burgess and’E. J. Righton (secretary). Messrs J. Burgess and A. L. Oropp were appointed proxies for Messrs F. T. Pannell and H. Wilkinson respectively. The Ellesmere Cycling Club forwarded particulars asked for by the Centre, and recommended the reappointment of Mr W. G. M iliiame as official handicapper. • The Christchurch Cycling Club wrote protesting against the handiolpper’s salary being reduced'. The Ariel Club announced that it had appointed Mr T. Clarkson as its 'delegate., 'The appointment was confirmed. The Cheviot and Ambsrley Club forwarded particulars of their position. Mr W. G. Williams' applied for reappointment as official haudicapper on the same terms as those-of last season. A number of testimonials from, clubs and sports promoters were enclosed. Mr G. H. Lethaby also applied for appointment. It was pointed out that, as the Centre had agreed to reduce tie handicappei-’s fees to £ls, Mr Williams’s application could not be considered, and Mr Lethaby’s application was accepted. The handicapping fees charged to clubs were fixed on the same scale as. those of last year. The Centre Secretary’s- salary was fixed at £l7los. .
