VALEDICTORY.
A “ social ” was given in the Methodist Church at New Brighton on Friday, to bid farewell to Miss Glanville, who is leaving the plane to prepare for mission work Mr Minifie presided. On behalf of the Church and friends, Mr Oawsey presented Miss Glanville with a handsome travelling _ rug and writing-case. Addresses were delivered by the Rev H. Murray and Messrs Bally and Hiddlestone.. Musical items and recitations were given by Mrs Murray, Misses M’Kinney, Pottrick, Minifie' and Daltry, and Messrs Nichols'and :Free. Light refreshments were handed round.
A social gathering was held in the South Springs ton School on Thursday evening, for the purpose of wishing Mr R. A. Malcolm, the schoolmaster, who intends to ...visit the Old Country, a good voyage. During ■ the evening songs and recitations were given. Mr Malcolm was presented with a handsome travelling rug by. bis friends. Dancing was kept up until an early-hour, and the hearty singing of “ Auld Lang Syne ” brought an enjoyable “ social ” to a .close.
