UNSKILLED LABOUR.

TO THE EDITORSir,— Certainly “Fair Play” lias great cause to complain of the way he has been treated at the Bureau. He is not a favourite ; that is certain. It is a pity lie does not come from Dunedin or down south; ho would then immediately be sent to the Midland Railway works at Springfield, where he would most likely get a good job, and be allowed to mako a good camp for himself. There is certainly great cause to complain as far as Canterbury men are concerned, as they are being constantly shifted from one end of the works to the other. If they make a fair wage the price that' they get is immediately out down, or else they aro shifted to another part. Christ church men can never make sure of being- in the same job from one day to tho other, and they get hard-earned small wages at that, while down-south men have good wages, and very seldom harts to shift camp.—l am, etc,, *LOiy WAGES. TO THE EDITOR. Sir —A Mr Dacombe, in replying to my letter, throws a wet blanket on my .suggestions, by saying my remarks are a large order, aiid evades my remark about something wrong somewhere, adding as a reply “ there should be no, suspicion atached to any public office.” I support him in that arid his remarks about the bread .and butter questions. To my complaint, I• am surprised to find him, a,s a labour fighter, shelving it. Until the Bureau is better constituted it rvi'-l remain a farce, robbing Mr Beeves of his good intentions in inaugurating that office as a medium for labour to gain its wants.—l am, etc., FAIR. PLAY.
