MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.
The monthly meeting of the Canterbury Christian Endeavour Union was held bn Thursday evening. Mr Hayward was in the chair. The Sabbath Observance Committee reported that good progress had been made, and that it was proposed to bold an open air meeting in Cathedral Square on a Saturday night. The Camp Meeting Committee also presented a satisfactory report. It was stated that the work of the Chinese mission on the West Coast was still being carried on with satisfactory results, hut a new catechist had not yet been obtained. The report from the Lookout Committee, which was adopted, stated that the members bad visited two societies. Arrangements for the rally to be held in the Sydenham Church on Monday, April 24 were completed, Miss Lowe Having consented to read a paper on “ The Ideal Endeavourer,” and the Rev J. J. Hoke to give an address. A meeting of the newly-formed Christchurch Philatelic Society was held lash-night in Hobbs’s Buildings, when the usual business was transacted.
The weekly public meeting of the Theosopbical Society was held in the lodgeroom, Lichfield Street, on Sunday.' A paper was read by Mr J. B. Wither on “ The Pedantic Concept of the Universe.”
