Correspondence was received :—From the New Zealand Rugby Union, asking for particulars as to the travelling of Canterbury representatives during the ensuing season, the names of delegates to the Council, and of 4 the honorary secretary, also the nomination for the office of vice-president of the Union. The Secretary was instructed Jo supply the information, and Mr A. E. G. Rhodes -was nominated as vice-president. From the Marlborough Rugby Union, asking the Canterbury Union to second their motion at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union, to the effect that the headquarters of the Union should be changed every three years, in the event of the Canterbury Union’s motion not being carried. It was decided not to take any action in the matter. From the Linwood Football Club, protesting against the resolutions of the Union which reflected upon the club’s Secretary, and drawing attention to Rule 14. They pointed out that the trouble was caused through the action of the Union’s Secretary in. contravening that rule, and therefore refused to forfeit the 10s 6d entrance fee, Mr Carr stated that the Linwood Secretary had gathered the impression from a conversation he had with Mr Garrard previous to the closing of the nominations that he could withdraw a team’s nomination up till 8 p.m, if he wished, and on this understanding the team had been nominated. He thought it hard that the Secretary should be publicly censured for having only done what he thought was right. Mr Garrard said that he bad certainly not told the Secretary this, and it must have been a misconception on his part. After some discussion it was decided that as the Secretary of the Linwood Club was under a misapprehension as to the time of the withdrawal of the teams, the censure passed by this committee should be removed, but that the committee insists on the forfeiture of the entrance fee. It was resolved that the Canterbury delegate on the New Zealand Rugby Union should he instructed to oppose the removal of disqualifications on three members of last year’s New Zealand team.
