The British Australian Trust Company has declared a dividend of Is 3d per share. The wheat market is very strong. Mark Lane shows an advance of from Is to 2s on the week. A parcel by an Australian sailing vessel due in April, sold for 38s, a parcel by a steamer due in May sold for 36s 6d. The arrival' of wool to- date amounts to 312,500 bales, of which 120,000 bales have been forwarded direct to manufacturing centres; 208,500 bales are available for next series. Experts consider that in the event of war wool will decline in price, owing to a decrease in the American demand. Grain, frozen meats (especially beef),tinned meats, hides and leather will, on the. other hand, show a hardening tendency. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram relating to the sa. China: — “Fair prospect of saving China, Half wool and gum saved. Salvage proceeding.” '
