; -An ordinary meeting of the Board was on',’-Thursday. A letter was received from Mr O’Halloran, offering to assist the : Board in an interview with the Premier as promised grant of .£IOOO, Which , had miscarried. It was resolved unanimously that some form of fair com- . pensation should be given to ratepayers assisting the Board by constructing the distributing channels. TJ. L. Dickenson waa appointed caretaker of Brown's Book, and ■ Robert Henry caretaker of Cooper’s Creek Race. Brown’s Rock Reserve of forty-six a,cres was leased to Mr Parish at ; .£6 10s for six months. An invitation was received from the Agricultural and Pas- . toral Association for tiro delegates from • the ‘ Board to attend the Irrigation Con- ■ ference, and Mr M. Dixon and Mr G. P. • Williams, engineer to the Board, were • appointed. The Board declined several • applications for loop lines and culverts, . pending the result of a loan poll for . .£3OOO to be taken shortly for the purpose of extending the system. After consideration of numerous applications and routine business, the Board agreed to adjourn till Tuesday, April 19, when it will meet the Rangiora Borough Council, to make a,r- , raogements for supplying that borough with water.
