[Per Press Association.! WELLINGTON, April 16. Mr J. V. Ansm, of the Moeraki lighthouse, is to succeed the late Mr Sciascia as first assistant lightkeeper at Portland Island, Mr L. Thompson, lightkeeper at The Brothers, is to be transferred to Moeraki. The Commissioner of Police has made the following awards in connection with the Silvorstream murder case: —Detective Neill .£l9, Sergeant Wright .£6, Constable Cruickshank .£6, Constable Patton £3. April 17. The Wellington Opera House Company will declare a dividend of 6 per cent fpi the year, which is the largest yet paid. It is expected that the trial of the fog signal apparatus at Pencarrow will be made next week. The Agricultural Department has r»
ceiyed a further supply of the natural enemy to the mekly bug, and this ■will be divided between Wellington and Nelson. It is expected that work in connection ■with tho light on East Island, off the East Cape, will be started shortly. The new light of increased power on'.Somes's Island •will be ready in about six months.
