The weekly returns of the Bank of England show:—Gold coin and bullion £26,959,000, reserve £18,434,000, per centage of reserve to liabilities 38‘40, circulation £27,803,000, public deposits £11,997,000, other deposits £35,906,000, Government? securities £13,198,000, other securities £34,088,000. Three months’ bills, 3f. Consols, llOSf. New South Wales 4 per cent stock 115 f 3-J per cent 103 d), 3 per cent 96£; Victorian 4 per cent 110 r 3£ per cent 102* ; South Australian 3-J pea: cent 107, 3 per cent 99; Queensland 4 per cent 107, 3j| percent 103; New Zealand 4 per cent 111, 3£ per cent 105, 3 per cent 98£; Tasmanian 3-£ per cent 106 ; West Australian 3* per cent 104. The English wheat market shows a general advance of sixpence. The Continental is advancing, and the American is rising. Californian No. 1 milling 375, Red Winter 108 cents, Russian cargoes 38s 3d, London quotation hard Duluth 43s 9d. Sugar fiat, Java 11s 3d, German 9s. Iron 465.
The Bradford wool market is lifeless. The combination of lamb importers has collapsed, owing to defections from its ranks.
The North British and New Zealand Investment Company’s balance-sheet shows a profit of £2063. A dividend of 2i per cent has been declared.

Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London Office, under date April 14 : " Since our last telegram prices of wheat in general are higher by Is to Is 6d per quarter. Fair average quality Victoran, new crop, shipment first half of April, per steamer to London, is probably worth 38s 6d per quarter of 4801 b, c.i.f., and by sailer 375. The advance is due to an active demand from the Continent and the probability of war.”
