' The conference passed resolutions that canvassing and touting at elections should' be made illegal; that the Government should bring in a Minimum Wage Bill (the. rate favoured by speakers was 10s a day);'; that Government tailoring workshops should be established in Wellington; that the Government should be requested to take steps to regulate the kauri gum fin- 1 dnstry, licenses to he issued to British subjects only; that the Government should he requested to give preference in employment to unionists; that the conference protests against continual appoinfhments to the Legislative Council, as it is opposed to all measures of reform; that Mr Ben; Tillet should be appointed to represent New Zealand at the next trades conference in New Zealand.
