To-day,' being the anniversary of St Patrick, will bo observed as a holiday in the Government offices, and a number of the commercial houses in town will be closed in the afternoon. . . The Christchurch Tramway Company will run special excursion tirams in connection with the gathering, and the Wpolston Band will be in attendance. The second day’s racing of the New Brighton’ Trotting Club will be held on the New Brighton Racecourse, to which the City and Suburban Tramway Company •will run special tranla. At Kir wee there will bo cycling and other sports. ", The annual race meeting of the Amur! Turf Club will be held at Culverden, and the Railway Department announces an excnrsipnto.that place.
