LICENSING COMMITTEES.

SELWYN. The quarterly meeting of this committee was held yesterday at the courthouse, Darfiold; present—Mr H. W. Bishop, S.Ai., and Messrs Knight, O’Alalley, Bull, Gough and Boag. Thomas M’Phelan, of Rolleston Hotel, applied for a temporary transfer, of his license to William Henry Ryan; granted. , A letter was read from John Cresswell, Secretary to the Hororataßacing Club,: asking for a. conditional license for the annual race meeting at Hororata. The Committee decided that if the application was made in proper form it would be favourably considered, Air Boag alone objecting. GERALDINE. The quarterly meeting of the Geraldine Licensing Committee was held yesterday at noon, at the courthouse, Ternuka; prosent—Air C. A. Wray, S.Ai , and Messrs E. Richardson, jnu., A. Alee, AI. Quinn, B. R. Macdonald ahdD, N. Thwood. The police report was -favourable. - A transfer of the license of the Ternuka Hotel, from •H. Roth well to R. Chute, was granted. A temporary transfer was granted of the license of the Royal Hotel from H. Rowse to M. O’Donoghue. The Chairman received general instructions to grant conditional liconses in respect of the Point Kaleyards. In this case it' was stated that the application was a recurrent one and the applicant, the Chairman and members of Committee, bad been frequently put to some considerable trouble for a. formal matter. On tho motion of Air, Alacdonald, seconded by Air Inwood, it was agreed that the Government should be asked to send tho Inspector’s report as to the quality of liquor sold in licensed houses to ‘ tho Committee. WAITAKI. The Waitaki Licensing Committee met at the courthouse, Waimate, yesterday ; present—Alaj or Keddell, S.AI., and Alessrs G. Alillcr, John Al’Gregor and George Alorton. The only business to be transacted was the confirmation of three transfers, but as only four members were present, no business could bo transacted.
