COURTENAY SCHOOL.
The school treat and prize distribution in .connection with the Courtenay School wei’e ■ held on Thursday, and were very largely attended. Conveyances were provided, and the children were taken to The Willows, where they seemed to enjoy themselves immensely. The party returned about 5 p.m. to the Orange Hall, where.the parents and friends had provided an abundant tea, consisting of nearly all the known varieties of confectionery. About one hundred, including the children, were present The committee had provided a splendid assortment of books for prizes, which were presented by the Chairman as follows The eighteen children in the infant classes each received a book. Standard I.—John Wills 1, Ellen Finley 2; Mabel Feutz, Edmund Leslie and Ida Feutz also received awards for passing the standard. Standard 11. Mabel Knight 1, Maggie Feutz 2; Harry Feutz and Barbara Anson received awards for passing the standard. Standard lll.—Eva M’Kay 1, Daisy Leslie 2. Standard IV.— Herbert Knight 1, Lucy Knight 2 • William "White and Harry Lilly passed the standard and received awards. Standard VI. — Catherine Wills 1. Miss Shailer’s prize for writing was won by T. Anson. Sewing —Kose Anson 1, Lucy Knight 2, Mabel Knight 3. A vote of thanks, proposed by Mr Gr. P. White and seconded by Mr W. Finley, was passed to the teacher for the very satisfactory way in which she has conducted the school since taking charge. A most enjoyable “social” followed, Mrs Anson, Miss Stewart and Mr J. Drummond providing the music, bliss M’Nae and Messrs J. Bedford and G. F. White contributing solos.
