VITAL STATISTICS.

[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, March 25. The following are the vital statistics for February:—

The total births in the above boroughs amounted to 319, against 346 in January, a decrease of 37. The deaths in February were 15S, an decrease of 32 on the number in January. Of the total deaths, males contributed 82 and females 75. Fiftyseven of the deaths wore of children under five years of age, being 36 - 30 per cent of the whole number; 52 of those were under one year of age. There were 26 deaths of persons of 65 years and upwards. Two men 63 and 71, and four women 73 (two), 81 and 92 died at Auckland; four men 68, 70, 72 and 83 and one woman 77 at Wellington; four mou 68, 73 (two) and 81, and four women 66, 73, 79 and 81 at Christchurch ; and seven men 70, 73 (two), 77 (two), 82 (two) at Dunedin. The following are the statistics for some of the principal boroughs :
