CANTERBURY AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE.

The official report 'of the business done at the recent meeting of the Canterbury Agricultural College Board contains the following information which was not previously published ' The; .Registrar of Canterbury College wrote in reply to the application of the Chairman for thp funds of the Canterbury Agricultiiral College, stating that until 5, the completion of the audit; which was * now being proceeded with as quickly as possible by the Government Auditor, no funds could be handed over. Approximately, though the maintenance account was overdrawn some .£750, it was estimated that the Board of Governors of Canterbury College would have some .£IB,OOO in securities to hand over as early as possible after the audit was complete. The reserves vested in the Agricultural College, ■ ■■, containing some 58,000 acres of pastoral country, had already passed under the Act from the Board of Governors to the Agricultural College. Messrs Garrick and Cowlishaw wrote asking fot a refund of £6l 17s 3d, on account of shortage in area of land sold by the Board of Governors to Messrs King and Raine, and also asking that the seal of the Board might be affixed to'the transfer of an excess of 21 acres 3 roods 13 perches on another section sold. The letter was referred to the solicitor of the Board to investigate and advise at next meeting. The Chairman was empowered temporarily to obtain £SOO to meet current expenditure, and it was resolved that an afcoufat showing the receipts and expenditure for each month should bo laid before the Board at its usual monthly meeting. It was decided that the Director should be the receiver of all revenue, that all payments should be made by cheque signed by the Chairman and countersigned by the Director, and that a fidelity bond for £IOOO should he obtained for the Director. The Chairman, with Messrs Rhodes and Rennie, were requested to deal with the question of drainage or any other subject requiring immediate attention and report at next meeting. It was arranged that the Director should report to and take his instructions from the Chairman. The Chairman and the Director were requested to prepare a prospectus, regulations, and a form of application for admission, to come into foroo on Jn.rt. 1. 1898.
