LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP. TPeb Press Association.! WELLINGTON, August 31. The first round of the Ladies’ Golf Championship was played to-day. There were twenty-nine byes and three matches. Mrs Ogle * (Christchurch) beat Miss M’Neil (Otago), 1 up. Mrs Wilder (Christchurch) heat Mrs Lees (Wellington), 1 up at the nineteenth hole 1. Mrs Ogston (Otago) beat Mrs Pearcy (Welling, ton), 6 up and 5 to play. In the handicap competition the scores were:—
