In the match between the champion county, Yorkshire, and the South of England, Spofforth took six wickets for 40 runs.

A meeting was held in the Kirwee Hall on Saturday evening for the purpose of reforming the cricket club. The Rev H. G. Hawkins was voted to the chair. It was resolved that the club should bii ra-formod, and that the subscription should be 5s for adults and 2s 6d, for boys under sixteen. The Rev H. G. Hawkins was elected president, and the following gentlemen’s names were submitted for their consent to act as vice-presidents: —Messrs J. Barrett, J. W. Belgravo, C. L. Davies, P. G. Davis, J. Gough, G. O’Malley, H. Overton, Page and J. Turner. The following committee was appointed:—Messrs S. Barrett, J. Bedford, C. Dixon J. Drummond, F. G. Davis, Kemp, M’Beath, Turner and A. Robertson. The annual meeting of the Temuka Cricket Club was held on Saturday, and was well attended. Mr P. Wearing (president) occupied the chair. The report showed that thei’e had been increased interest taken in cricket during the season. The balance-sheet showed a debit of £5 Is Bd. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following officers were elected: —Patron, Mr A. E. G. Rhodes; president, Mr J. T. M. Hayhurst; vicepresidents, Messrs Luxford and Dunn; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr G. Armitage; captain, Mr E. Brown; vicecaptain, Mr J. Hollwell; committee, Messrs Ferguson, Dunn, Fantliorpe, Hawkes, Gapper and Buxton; match committee, the Captain, Vice-Captain and Messrs Hayhurst and Ferguson; ground committee, Messrs Brown, Buxton, Luxford and Fantliorpe. Mr D. Ferguson was elected delegate to the South Canterbury Cricket Association, and empowered to ask that one representative match should be played at Temuka. The annual subscription was fixed at 10s for adults and 5s for juniors. A sub-committee was appointed to draft rules and report at an early date. It was agreed to open the season on Sept. 24.
