[From Our Correspondent.] LYELL, April 4. The United Alpine report for this week is as follows The drive at No. 9 level east of the incline shaft has been driven a total distance of ill feet, and for the month 54 feet. The total distance driven on the west side is 47 feet, and for the month 12 feet. The country in this drive is very hard, consequently very slow progress is the result. The uprise at No. 4 has been extended a further distance of lift, total distance 37ft. During the former part of the week the reef beached off in the foot-wall a distance of Bft, but it has every appearance of resuming its normal underlie. A new make of stone has come in on the foot-wall, and gold is frequently seen. The reef will average 4ft wide, and is of a very kindly appearance. [Per Press Association.! AUCKLAND, April 4. Kapai Vermont, Kuatonou, crushed 330 tons for 4700 z. The mine is looking well. Hauraki, Coromandel, cleaned up on Wednesday for the excellent return of 21190 z lOdwt of gold, worth £3 per oz. WESTPORT, April 4. The coal export for the week ended today was 3683 tons 7cwt, made up as follows : —Westport Coal Company, 2503 tons; Cardiff, 1008 tons 18ewt; Knights of Labour, 181 tons 9cwt.
