RIFLE SHOOTING.
On Saturday the College Rifles had a field day at Bromley. ■ The corps • fired against four different teams, representing the E Battery, H.M.S. Katoomba, the Eangiora Rifles and ex-members of the College Rifles. Altogether about seventy men took part. The weather was fine, with a steady north-east wind; the.light was bright and very puzzling at 600yds. The result was a win for the E Battery. Privates, which resulted in a win for the former by six points. Prizes given by the corps were won by Private Teape, Sergeant Hartland, Corporal Merton and Lance-Corporal Gundry. The medal presented by Mr Gundersen was won by Private Teape, and range prizes were won by Corporal Merton, Private Teape and Sergeant Hartland. Refreshments were proyided, and a very pleasant afternoon was spent. It is , proposed to hold a match between teams of twenty men a .side from the men-of-war now, in Port and the Canterbury volunteers.
