INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION.

A special meeting of the; Executive and Building Committee was held at 8 p.m. yesterday ;• present—Messrs H. B. Kirk (in the chair), J. Waller, It. C. Bishop, R. W. England, W. W. Charters, G. E. Hart, T, N. Horsley, J. R. Triggs, E. Smith, S. H. Seager and Captain M'Clatchie. The Chairman explained that the meeting had been called at short notice, in consequence of a recommendation which had come from the Space Committee as to the providing of further building accommodation, in addition to the annexe to the drillshed, which was already in progress. A meeting of the Space Committee had been held on the previous evening, and it was found that not only had all the available space at its disposal already been applied for, but that some 200 feet more was asked for. In view of the time which yet remained for applications to come in, the committee felt justified in recommending the erection of another building 8t feet hy 44 feet. The Space Committee thought that in justice to the intending exhibitors it was their duty to provide the space they required. Mr Triggs, chairman of the Space Committee, said that he had gone carefully over the space applied for and found that the result was as stated by the Chairman.

Mr K. Allan moved—“ That the Building Committee be instructed to proceed at once with the erection of the proposed addition to the annexe now being built, the size of such addition to be 84 x 44/’ Mr J. K. Triggs seconded the resolution, which was carried unanimously. In answer to questions, Mr Triggs said that the additional space wnich would be secured by the proposed addition would be 2000 feet.

The President said’ that the Premier had, &s members were aware, replied to his telegram about the grant of .£IOOO to the effect that the matter would be considered when the Colonial Treasurer arrived. Mr Ward had now returned to the colony, and in view of the fact that in order to keep faith with intending exhibitors, the committee had that day decided to erect an additional building, he thought they should send a telegram to the Premier asking him to let them know if the grant would be available! Mr K. C. Bishop thought that perhaps a deputation from the committee to Wellington would have the desired effect. Mr Ki. Allan thought that the committee would agree with the President that it would be the proper thing to send the telegram to the Premier as proposed. Mr G. Hart thought that the committee ought to make it clear to the Premier that the exhibition had now got quite beyond the limits of a merely local exhibition, and

partook somewhat of the character of a colonial one. It was resolved that the President should telegraph to tha Premier as suggested. The name of Mr R. C. Bishop was added to the Lighting and Building Committee.

Mr E, Allan moved —" That a Decorative Committee be appointed, comprising the following:—Messrs E. C. Bishop (chairman), W. Sey, E. Allan, G. E, Hart, S. H. Seager and Captain M’Clatcbie.” Captain M’Clatchie seconded the motion, which was carried. The meeting then closed.
