WINTER WORK FUND.

The receipt of the following subscriptions to the above fund is acknowledged

Subscriptions may he left at the City Council Office, any of the Borough Council offices. Press office or Lyttelton Times office. The Salvation Army Australian Guards’ Band, which is highly spoken of, will arrive here from the., north next week. Arrangements are being made for it to T,i‘oy on the Rotunda on Saturday afterTioon July 20, when a collection will be taken up in aid of the Winter Work Fund. Fifty men were put on yesterday afternoon to clear the snow off the streets. Yesterday about a dozen unemployed, chiefly belong ng to Southbrook, applied to the Mandevilla and Rangiora Road Board for work. The Board arrlngad a Quantity of relief work, and decided to forward £25 to the Charitable Aid Board to Be subsidiafd. At a meeting of the committee of the South Waimakariri River Board held vesterday, at which Messrs R. W. England, ta Taylor and J. C. Atkinson were present ’it was decided to find work for twelve men in planting, &0., on the Board’s reserves on the south bank of tha river Applications, as appears from an advertisement elsewhere, are to be made at the Board’s office at 2.30 on Monday aftera°Att *meeting of unemployed was held in tba primitive Methodist schoolroom.
