NEW SOUTH WALES.
A BITTER SPEECH. [Special to Pbess Association.] SYDNEY, July 12. Sir Henry Parkes has consented to oppose the Premier, Mr Reid. In informing his committee of his decision he made a bitter personal attack on Mr Reid, calling him brainless, and saying that his policy was calculated to carry desolation in all branches of the public service. His proposed reform of the Council would simply make that Chamber an instrument in the hands of a profligate Minister, and auchapolicyas that proposed would degrade public institutions, paralyse industries, and make the country unfit for any man of character to live in. It.was even worse than the French Revolution. Sir Henry continued that he himself was a Mug compared to Mr Reid, who pandered to the lower classes in the country. Amongst other iniquities Mr Reid had prostituted the Press, which was no longer free and independent. Sir H. Parkes said that he could not render , any greater service to the country and the cause of union than in opposing ouch a public enemy as Mr Reid. He would enter the contest an uncompromising enemy of Mr Reid and all his belongings.
