The Rangiora market was largely attended yesterday. At the Central Yards Mr Buss had an entry of 5000 sheep, 90 head of cattle and 150 pigs. Biddings were rather languid, but a general clearance was effected, as many lots passed in were sold privately. Pat cross-bred wethers 9s to 10a, do ewes 6s to 7a 6d, fat merino wethers 6a to 7a 6d, do ewes 3a to 4s; cross-bred breeding ewes 5s to 6a, do hoggets 5s 6d, Gs 6d to Ba, merino ewes la 6d to la lOd, boilers 6d to Is; cattle, beef, equal to 20a per 1001 b, cow beef 15s, yearling cattle 35s to 40s, two-yoar-olda £2 10a to £3, springers £5 to £6; pigs, baconera 35s to 40s, porkers 16s to 255, good stores 11s to 13s, small do 8s to 9s, woaners 4s to 5s 6d, sows 25s to 40a. Mesars Tuttoa and Wilmot sold cross-bred lambs at 4s 9d to 5a 6d, twoftooth cross-bweds 6a 6d to 7a, merino ewes lOd to 3s; a line of 35 prime bacon pigs at 30s to 37s 6d; also horses and a largo quantity of produce at full market rates. At the North Canterbury Yards 2500 sheep, 30 bead of cattle and 50 pigs were sold by Messrs Pyne and Go., Matson and Co-, King and Co. and W. F. Joynt. aa follows:—Fat cross-bred wethers 7a 6d to 10s, do ewoa 4s 6d to 7s, breeding ewes 2a 6d to os 6d, merino ewes (sound-mouthed) 2a to 3s sd, two and four-tooth breeding ewos 7s to 8a 6d, cull merinos 6d to Is Id, forward lambs 5s to 7a 7d, store do 2s to 4s Gd. Pigs and cattle at last weok’a quotations. There wsa a good attendance at the Ashburton Yards yesterday, when about 6000 sheep, 61 pigs and 33 head of cattle wore offered for sale. Although tinea tho last sale there had been a good shower c£ rain in all parts of the district, farmers seemed overstocked, and the sale was the dullest and most unsatisfactory of any held this season. Old and inferior sores were unsaleable, and fat young abaca excited no competition and were difficult to sell at any price. Pat cross-bred ewes sold at from 4s to ss, merino ewes la lid to 3a lid, lambs la 6d for small to 8s for fat. A line of good two-tooth sheep, nearly fat, sold at 7s 6d; cross-bred ewes 6d to 3s 6d; merino ewea 6d, 7d, Is Id, Is 7d, Is lOd; freezers 9* 3d. Cattle—Pat steam £3, £5 5s to £6 2s 6d; fat cows and heifers £3 2s 6d, £6, £7 Is; dairy cows £4 12s 6d, £5 5s 6d. Pigs—Stores lls to 21s, weanera 2a 4d to 4s 3d. At the fortnightly sheep sale at Amberley on Monday them was a large attendance. About 15,000 sheep were submitted and the bulk sold, though at some considerable reduction from former rates. Tbe following sales were effected: Merinos, sound-mouth ewes Is 6d, broken 6d to-lid, culls 4d, fat sorts 3s 9d; crossbred lambs, weeds Is 6d, light 2s 3d to 2s 4d, fat 4s 4d; cross-bred ewes, four and six-tooth (mixed) 5s 3d, two-tooth 6s 6d, full-mouth 6s Id, broken 3s. A line of 700 four, six and eight-tooth ewea sold at 4a 6d. • ______
