RIFLE SHOOTING.
The North Canterbury Rifle Club’s competitions were continued on Saturday, at the Eangiora range. A gusty nor.’wester was blowing across the line of fire, making it difficult to keep on the target at the longer ranges. For the club trophy five shots at each range were fired, with the following result:—D. M’Kay 200yds, 21, 500yda 20, 600yds 18, total 59; W. Banka 21, 16. 13-50; W. Efford (6) 19, 19, 16—60; F. Becker 20, 21, 11—52; G. Jones (9) 16, 18, 10—53, For the New Zealand Rifle Association’s bronze medal the scoring with seven shots at each range was:—F. Becker 200yds 29, 500yds 31, total 60; D. M’Kay 29, 30-59; W. Banka 31,24 —55 ; W. Efford 23, 28—51; G. Jones 23, 26—49. There. is one more competition for the modal, and D. M’Kay is now leading by two points. The five highest competitors of the Kaiapoi Rifles for Captain Mellow’s prize in the 200, 300 and 500yda Handicap are:—Private W.
