HOURS OF LABOUR.

TO THE EDITOR* Sib, —You ask the question “ Shall we interfere with the hours of labour ?” I answer why not? They have been interfered with before now, with most beneficent results, and they will have to bo interfered with again, else one-half the world will have to be kept in enforced idleness. Six hours per day _ would be ample for anyone to work with the machinery we now have. It is a great mistake to think that the wages would have to coma down if the hours of labour wore reduced. In the past when the hours were shortened the wages immediately went up, and so they would do again. But unfortunately our M.H.R.’e, to their shame, are not willing to pass an Eight Hours Bill. Thanking you for ventilating the subject,—l am, &c,, SHORTER HOURS.
