The Daily New*, referring to the defeat of the Victorian team »y the Englishmen, says the victory cannot be regarded as a great one, as the absence of Bruce and Trumble spoiled the former team as thoroughly representative of the colony. [Per Press Association.! DUNEDIN, Nov. 22. A Dunedin gentleman is in receipt of a letter from a member of the committee, stating that the Fiji cricket team hopes to leave for New Zealand a few days after the New Year. It proposes taking eight whites and six natives. The whites will probably be Udal, Allardyce, Caldwell, Collins, M’Qwan, Groom, Joske and Abrahams. A match betweeen the Ashburton and Geraldine Cricket Clubs was played on the Oval, Geraldine, on Wednesday. The former iu two innings scored 64 and the latter 109, Geraldine thus gaining the victory by 45 runs.
