[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Oct. 25. The following is a comparative return of the quantity and value of gold entered for duty during the quarters ending September, 1894 and 1893: Quantity Value.

The value of the imports for the quarter ended Sept. 30 was .£1,903,169, as against .£1,847,816 for the same period last year. The following is a comparative return at the four principal centres;— 1893. 1894. The following is a comparative return of the value of articles exported during the quarters ending September, 1894 and 1893 1894. 1893.

Total £1,291,834 1,425,157 For the last quarter gold shows a decrease in the value of the exports of £23,500, kauri gum £22,700, butter £30,000, rabbitskins £16,000. beans and peas £6500, oats £16,000, wheat £73,000, potatoes £9700, hemp £29,000, specie £59,000. The principal increases are: Coal £4500, timber £IO,OOO, live stock £9OOO, preserved meat £SOOO, frozen meat £47,000, sheepskins £BOOO, tallow £15,000, wool £86,000. The number of vessels entered inwards daring the quarter was 127, with a tonnage of 138,426, and crews aggregating 4777, as against 142, 143,788 and 4572 for the corresponding quarter in 1893. The vessels entered outwards were 136, tons 137,382, crews 4798. For the like period last year the totals were—l 43 vessels, 140,568 tons, crews 4435. .

The postal revenue for the September quarter was £48,523, •against £47,962 for the same period last year. The telegraph revenue was £22,423, against, £24,239, exclusive of the value of Government telegrams, which amounted in value to £5994 and £6472 respectively. Money orders were issued to the value of £192,888, as against £190,823 for a like period in 1893. The following are the Savings Bank transactions for the quarter ended Sept. 21: With- ■
