WESTLAND EACING CLUB. [Psr Prr3b Assooiatiok/1 HOKITIKA, March 30. The weather was again wot for the races. The attendance numbered 900. The course was very heavy. Results : Produce Stakes; three-quarters of a mile—Doubtful 1, Heme Buie 3, Time—lmla 27-isec. Dividend-*-,£l 13s. Hurdle Eace—Mayboy 1, Esgalia 2. Won by a length. Dividend —-A2 6a. Easter Handicap; one mile and a half—Geraint 1, King Harry 2, Harkaway 3. Wou easily. Time—3min 53sec. Dividend —£l 12s. Hack Eace—York Rose 1, Sasafield 2. Dividend—£3 4s. Tradesmen’s Handicap—King Harry 1, Duke of Norfolk 2, Dividend—*! ss. Consolation Race—Home Rule 1, Miss Ann 2. Dividend—J22 11a, CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB. A mealing of the stewards of the Canterbury Jockey Club was held on Thursday afternoon, when the riding of C. Stratford m the Addington Plato on the second day of the recent autumn meeting was considered. In that race Stratford’s own horse. Loid c-f Misrule, won, while Eosgn ird, which he rode, came second. The riders of Langley, Perkin and Lunaire, which tan iu the race wero examined, and the evidence given went to show that Stratford had 'interfered to the prejudice of some of the horses in the race. The stewards finally came to the decision that the Addington Plate ehould be declared no race, and that Stratford should hs disqualified for six mouths.
CHRISTCHURCH POLO CLUB SPORTS.
Tho annual sports of the Christchurch Polo Club will be bold on the Eiccarton racecourse to-day, and a pleasant afternoon’s amusement is promised. The entries for all the contests are good, and some excellent sport should be provided. Special prizes will be given as follows Messrs Petersen and Co. a cup in the Polo Ball Eaoe; Mr Gerard a cup for the Hurdle Race; Mrs Rhodes will give tho prize in the Cup Race, and Mr Rhodes the prize in the Ladies’ Bracelet Race. A train will leave tho Christchurch Railway Station at 1.30 p.m., returning from the course at 5.45 p.m. The return fare, including admission to the course, will be 2s 6d, but an additional 2s 6d will be charged for admission to the grand stand.
Nominations for the Ashburton Racing Club’s autumn meeting will close with the Secretary at 9 o’clock to-night. The racehorse Liberator was landed out of the steamer Flora at Lyttelton yesterday morning. Ben Godfrey was shipped north by the Takapuna on Thursday evening. The horses Nixie, Westmere, Goosander, Pom Pom, Melinite, Reynard and Blarney were shipped by the Taiune for the north last night. Special cheap train fares are advertised in connection with the autumn meeting of tho South Canterbury Jockey Club, which takes place at Timaru on Wednesday.
