The Danevirbe Jockey Club races today were held in most unfavourable weather. A hailstorm of unusual severity occurred iu the middle of the day. The attendance was, nevertheless, good. A meeting of stewards of the Otahuhu Trotting Club was held to inquire into the alleged in and out running of horses at the recent meeting. Five witnesses were examined, and the further hearing of the case was adjourned until Tuesday. WELLINGTON, Jan. 26.
The charge against Henry Wilmot, of having unlawfully used the racecourse on Monday last, for the purpose of betting, was heard to-day, and decision was reserved until the charge against M’Maater was heard.
The Lancaster Park Trotting Club a Summer Meeting will be held to-day. A capital programme will be discussed, and as tho acceptances for the various events are large the racing is sure to be interesting. The authorities have decided to provide the occupants of the grand stand with afternoon tea, and the secretary has informed us that the track will be watered this morning so as to insure its being in the very best order. The following horses may run forward in their respective engagements Maiden Trot, Doll; Park Stakes Handicap, Polly Plum; Pony Trot, Nipper ; Glasgow Handicap, Colonial; Selling Trot, Templeton; Sydenham Handicap, Nilreb and Bobbie Burns; Dash Handicap, Maud V. 5 Sprint Handicap, Tennessee and Deception.
The following racehorses were landed from Wellington yesterday at Lyttelton• Prime Warden, Palliscr, Olanranald, Liberator, Clarence and Persuasion.
