MARKET REPORTS.

ADDINGTON. The heat was decidedly oppressive for the live stock market at Addington yards yesterday. Entries in moat classes of stock were good, and business was on the whole fairly satisfactory- The attendance was only a medium one, and consisted for the most part of butchers and dealers. Store Sheer. —There was a small entry in the store pans, made up mostly of twotcotb eroas-hreds, which sold fairly well, but older sheep were neglected. Messrs Todhunteb and Jennings sold for clients, 115 cross-bred hoggets at 9s, 159 merino ewes and lambs at 7s, 198 aged cross-bred ewes and lambs at 4s 4i,(a1l counted), 87 half-brad hoggets at 9a 9d, 192 merino ewes and lambs at 4s Bd, 115 half-bred hoggets at 9s 6d, 110 cross-bred do at 10s 9d. Messrs H. Matson and Co. (associated with the National M. and A. Company of N.Z., Limited) sold 265 two-tooth cross-breds at 8s lOd, 87 merino ewes and lambs (all counted) at 2s 7d. Messrs Pynk and Co. sold 150 fourtooth cross-bred wethers at 12s 3d. Fat Sheep. Between 4000 and 5000 fat sheep came forward, mostly crossbred ewes. Tho quality was only medium, and very few could be classed as freezers. The sale opened at about last week’s rates, but it soon became evident that requirements were email, and a good number were passed, while those that changed hands, with the exception of a few pens of prime wethers, did so at a reduction in values. bales, some well-known brands being on the catalogue, the moat noticeable being “ Kinross,” u Wallandool,” from the Eastern Biverina, in grease, and “Qoantambone ” from Upper Darling, scoured. The market continues exceedingly firm at ruling quotations, a fractional advance being occasionally secured, and late rates have been fully maintained for all qualities.. The sale was very animated, there being a full attendance of buyers, and bidding throughout was of the keenest possible description, the competition for scoured wools being especially well sustained, last week’s quotations continuing firm. While each section of the trade operated freely Continental buyers still led by a long way, the Yorkshire houses’ representatives being more prominent in their operations than hitherto this season. Low as prices are all over the world, the local rates are much better than the London markets. The total quantity of wool offered during the week amounted to 35,535 bales, and 28,829 bales have been sold privately and at auction. At the Tinwald Yards on Tuesday there was the largest entry of the season, between 7000 and 8000 sheep being! yarded. The demand was not equal to the; entry, and a dragging sale has to be recorded. The attendance waa good., but bidding was very dull, and although no: marked change in the pticea was visible, it! took a long time for the salesmen to reaoh l the sellers 1 ' reserves.
