CULVERDEN SHEEP FAIR.

The ficafc sheep fair of the season at Culverden was held yesterday. The rainy weather having retarded shearing, the number of sheep forwarded was far less than usual, while the general body of buyers on their part, were unprepared to begin the season’s operations. In consequence, the eale was unsatisfactory to everybody concerned. The auctioneers’ carriage on the train from Christchurch was not well patronised, and very few buyers were during the sale. Under 7000 sheep were offered. The Montrose draft was in poorer condition than was tho case last year, but the other drafts were up to the usual standard. The following is a list of the sales : By New Zealand Land Association, Limited (Mr F. N. Robinson, auctioneer).
