SOUTHLAND FROZEN MEAT COMPANY.

The Southland Frozen Meat Company held an extraordinary meeting to-day, at which the Directors’ proposals to increase the capital to .3100,000 were adopted. It waa announced that the New Zealand Shipping Company and Messrs Turnbull, Martin and Co. (Shire liners) would take four thousand iJS shares, and that as a consequence the vessels of both Companies would make the Bluff a port of call. The Shipping Companies will have the right to elect two of the sis Directors. The Company had been negotiating with Messrs Nelson Bros, for amalgamating the businesses in Southland, but this will bo unnecessary if ' tho shareholders confirm the resolutions passed to-day. ‘ Strong comments were made on the apathy of sheepfarmers who would not take s ook in the Company, but got tho benefit of the high prices ruling through competition, which their laxnesa threatened to convert into a monopoly, with a consequent reduction in the value of sheep.
