ROAD BOARDS.
TEMPLETON. The usual monthly meeting of the Templeton Koad Board was fat-W on Mooday; present—Messrs Bailey, Carpenter, Taylor and Carr. An apology from Mr Marsh for non-attendance . was accepted, and in his absence Mr Bailey was voted to the chair.—Correspondence was read—From Mr E. E. Deacon, forwarding a convey an co of part 8.8., 6464 (new gravel pit, Broadfields) duly executed. The Clerk reported that the pit had! proved to be aa exceptionally good one. It was resolved that sixpence per cubic yard should be charged as a royalty on all gravel taken therefrom.—The Clerk was directed to inform the tenants .of Besoms. BSB and 871 that unless the clause in their respective leases, having reference to the eradication of gorse, &c., was at onto complied with, the work would be carded out by the Board, tho coat thereof recovered and the leases cancelled.—An application for a pipe culvert to the entrance to Mr i Beuben Voice’s section in the Templeton; township was considered, and the Surveyor received instruction? to put the work in hand, the water channel being unusually; deep at this particular place.—The Clerk! - was instructed to apply for subsidies guar-' anfceed by the Salwyn County Council towards the amounts expended in suppression of small birds and providing work for; the unemployed.—lt was resolved that the! day men should be discharged at the end* of the current week,—The Bate Collector! submitted a statement of arrears, and he! was directed to enforce Immediate payment,' —Accounts amounting to J3UB 0s 2d having been passed, the meeting terrain-' ated.
LINCOLN. The ordinary meeting of this Board wu held on Monday; present—Messrs J. W, Prebble (Chairman), T. A. Alsop, H. E. Peryman and James Sinclair,—An apology for Mr Overton's absence was received.— Correspondence was read:—From Mr G. Maginneea, agreeing to sign a contract for a drain. It was resolved that, unless tha contract was signed within three days, the work should be given to the next lowest tenderer.—From Mr J. Julian, disputing tho measurement of the stone broken by him. The Clerk was instructed to reply that as the stone broken by Mr Julian was catted by contract, he could not expect to be paid for more than the contractor carted.—Prom Messrs Andrews and Beaven, enclosing a pamphlet on clover growing.—lt'wae resolved to invite tendon for ploughing out the crown of apportion of the Prebbleton and Halswell road, and for caning 1600 yards of gravel to various roads. Messrs Peryman and Sinclair and the Clerk were asked to inspect the tramway road, with a view of its improvement. —lt was resolved that persons, other than ratepayers, should be charged 3d per yard for gravel at the pits.—Accounts amounting to £24 la 4d were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
