MARKET REPORTS.
Masers H. Matson and Co. (associated with the National M. and A. Company of N.Z., Limited) report for the week ending Dec. 4:—Wheat—-The market remains in the same depressed state that has characterised it for some time past, and judging from the tenor of the Home markets, the chance of any appreciable improvement in the near future is remote. As before stated, the scarcity of grain freights has also a weakening tendency. Milling otiil ranges from 2s 6d to 2s 9d, while fowls’ wheat commands 2s to 2s 43, which is higher in proportion to milling. Oats also remain much the same ; a steady trade is passing at 2s to 2a 3d, and until the eve cf the new crop being harvested, wa shall look for a continuance of present rates, aa stocks are not excessive. Barley.—Any lines changing hands are but of a limited character, the season being over for malting. Prices are nominally 3s to 3s 6d. Potatoes.—The season for old potatoes baa almost closed, and the now are coming in more freely. However, there is a demand for the former, and owing to the extremely light stock, prices have touched £7 per ton. Grass Seeds.—There is nothing doing in the old crop, prices being nominally 3s to 4s for ryegrass, and 3d to 4d for cocksfoot. With a favourable season for the growth of grass, the incoming crop should be heavy. Beans and peas have very little enquiry. Dairy Produce.—Butter, 7d to 8d; cheese, 3d to 4d. Quotations are f.0.b,, sacks extra.
