The attendance was meagre in the extreme, there being at no time more than sixty persons on the ground. Proc-edmgs were opened with the Maiden Stakes, tor which there was an entry of fourteen dogs. The winner turned up in Mr A. Lee’s (Ashburton) red slut Twilight, but it was quite on. the cards that the result would have been different but for the unfortunate accident to Moderation (another Ashburton representative) In his course with the ultimate winner in the third round, by which he broke hia right foreleg, necessitating his destruction. The Canterbury Cup, for which only six dogs entered, whs divided by Wild Rose and Ivcris. Mr D.

O’Brien acted as judge, and gave entire satisfaction, while Mr A. M’Connell &3 slipper, Mr M. Cowan aa slip steward, and Mr A. I. Rattray as Secretary left nothing to be desired.
