MONTE CARLO. [Special to Press Association.] [Received August 10, at 10.15 a.m.] ROME, August 8. The famous gambling casino of Monte Carlo, in Monaco, is to be closed next year. The owners of the tables have offered Prince Lichtenstein ten million francs (£400,000) for permission to set them up at Vadutz. [The gaming casino at Monte Carlo, in the Principality of Monaco, dates from 1858, in which year the first stone of the building was laid. The revenue of Monaco, which is only eight square miles in extent, has been greatly enriched by the casino, tbo price paid for the concession being £50,000 annually. The total annual income of the gaming establishment, however, is stated to be about £800,000; tbe average daily profit from a roulette table being £2OO. Prince Charles 111., of Monaco, with whom the contract was made, died in 1889. He was succeeded by his son.
