A question has been raised as to whether it ie advisable to proceed with the erection of a lighthouse on the Snares, owing to the fact that the summit is frequently enveloped in fog. The Government is communicating with New Zealand before taking any further steps. THE AUSTRALIAN CEUISEES. THURSDAY ISLAND. August 10. The Australian cruisers are awaiting the arrival of the Orlando before proceeding South. [Eeceived August 10, at 7.30 p.m.] AN AEBEST. SYDNEY, August 10. Waterhouse, the defaulting accountant of the Commercial Bank, has been arrested in London. THE SHEAEERS. Great satisfaction is felt throughout the country at the termination of the shearing difficulty. SEVEN YBAES’ PENAL SERVITUDE. Cole, the clerk in the Commercial Banking Company, who defrauded the bank of £50,000, by means of forged office warrants, has been sentenced to seven years’ penal servitude.
