AUCKLAND E‘CING CLUB’S MEETING. [Peb Fbbss Association.] AUCKLAND, June 3.
At Ellerslie this morning, Takapau and Karewa did good work over two milee. Yum Yum went three rounds on the tan. Bryan O’Lynn and Neok-or-Nothing did half-pace work. Duadine did medium pace work twice round; Sentinel also looka well walking. Try Fluke and Criminal are amiss. Theorem, a strong favourite for the Hurdles, will be hard to beat; and Takapau and Omata are most fancied tor the Great Northern. The weather promises to be fine. Takapau is a strong favourite at 2to X for the Great Northern Steeplechase, to be run to-morrow. The weather looks threatening. [pbom oub own cobbesponlent.] The weather is gloomy, and not at”aU promising for the A.B.C. Meeting to* morrow. Very little wagering is being transacted on the principal events, the Hurdles and Great Northern Steeplechase, but in wbat little there is Theorem and Takapau are in most request, and as little as 7 to 1 has been accepted about the double. The probable starters and riders in the Great Northern Steeplechase are:—Sentinel, 12st (Weal), Ingorina, list 71b (Wright), Nap, lOst 71b (Burns). Omata, lOst 31b (Fergus), Takapau, lOst (Fell), Parnell, dat 111 b (Johnstone), Ival Oat 101 b (Hickey), Bit o' Blue, Oat 101 b Marshall, Yum Yum, 9s 91b (Windsor). Duadine, dat 91b. Sentinel arrived to-day from Waikato, and looks ex* tremely well, and, should no further rain fall, he will render a good account of himself. Omata will probably be the one on whom Williamson’s stable will rely, but if Takapau stands up, I fancy he wul supply the winner. Theorem will require a lot of beating in the Hurdle Baoe, and unless Eae reveals something first-class in Good-Day, I don’t see anything likely to beat Theorem.
