[Pkb Pbbss Association.] THE QUEENSLAND SHEARERS. AUCKLAND, May 29. Mr J. R. M'Donald, a delegate from the. Australian Shearers* Union, now in Auck*. land, states that the Queensland shearing, must come off in two months, and the, pastoralista must come to terms it the Unionists hold out so long. Mr McDonald goes throughout New Zealand to interest Trades Unions and the public in the ehewiing difficulty, chiefly with the view, to,' prevent shearers in this Colony aiding the, pastoralista. RAILWAY SERVANTS’ SOCIETY. The quarterly general meeting of the members of the Canterbury branch of . the A.S.R.S. took place last night at theOddfellows’ Chambers, Lichfield street, and was fairly attended. The Chairman, in his opening address,! gave a brief r6swm4 of the quarter's pro*! ceedings, and pronounced the branch per-| feotly sound, both financially and numeric cally. He exhorted the members to have, faith in each other and in the Society** future power, for good, which he said not doubt eventually would lead to thej Society becoming what it was originally; intended to be —a boon to all railway, employees. ,' The Auditors* report and balance-ahaefc; were received and adopted, and soma extensive alterations effected in the branch by-laws. Permission was given to the Committee; to re-admit persons who had become nu»A than six months in arrears, on payment Of the usual entrance fee, or on such terms as" might be deemed to be in the best interests of the Society. It was resolved to urge the Executive to hasten the establishment" of the death fund, and the meeting oloaed' with a vote of thanks to the Chairman; .
